Is Opera GX Safe?
Generally, Opera GX is a legitimate Chromium-based browser when you get it from Opera and keep it updated. That answer has boundaries: it is not a promise of zero telemetry, complete anonymity or harmless downloads, extensions and Mods.

What Opera GX cannot promise
The browser can lower some everyday risk, but it cannot decide whether an installer is genuine, whether a site deserves your password or whether a gaming Mod is maintained.
The VPN is browser-scoped
A browser VPN does not automatically route game launchers, Discord, another browser or every background process. It also does not erase identity signals from the sites you sign into.
A blocker is not an antivirus
Ad and tracker filters can reduce known nuisance content. They do not inspect every file, script or social-engineering page, and filter lists can be incomplete.
