Menus, settings labels, and Spaces chrome remain in English on macOS and Windows.

Menus, settings labels, and Spaces chrome remain in English on macOS and Windows.
You can add Chinese (简体/繁體) so sites that support localization may open in Chinese.
Arc can prompt you to translate foreign pages via Google Translate — useful, but not the same as a native Chinese browser.
Arc for Desktop is only available in English. You can still change the primary language in your Arc settings to make sure websites are shown in your preferred language.
— Arc Help Center
Follow Arc’s official Chromium settings path. These steps work on both Mac and Windows builds.
Open a new tab and paste the internal settings URL in the address bar, then press Enter.
arc://settingsIn the left sidebar, click Languages to open preferred language controls.
Under Preferred languages, click Add languages and choose 中文(简体)or 中文(繁體).
Drag Chinese to the first position or use the ⋮ menu to set it as the top preferred language.
If the option appears, click ⋮ next to Chinese and choose “Display Arc in this language”. Availability varies by build.
Fully quit Arc (Cmd+Q on Mac, close from tray on Windows) and relaunch so language preferences apply.
Shortcut: you can also jump directly to arc://settings/languages from the address bar.
When a page isn’t in your preferred language, Arc surfaces a Translate action in the sidebar or URL area.
Visit a non-Chinese page — Arc shows a Translate button when it detects a language mismatch.
On Mac, right-click the page and pick the translate option from the context menu.
Go to arc://settings → Languages → Google Translate and toggle off if prompts feel noisy.
Myth
“Arc already has a full Chinese interface.”
Truth
Official docs state desktop Arc is English-only; preferred languages affect websites, not guaranteed UI localization.
Myth
“Change ArcGIS Administrator language to switch Arc browser.”
Truth
Some Chinese articles confuse Arc browser with ArcGIS mapping software — completely unrelated products.
Myth
“Adding Chinese instantly localizes every website.”
Truth
Sites must support Chinese themselves; Arc only sends your language preference header.
